What is Little Tigers?
Little Tigers karate club was established in 2010, with the aim of encouraging very young children into the sport. Recent research suggests that if we can encourage children into an active sport before the age of five, 90% of the time they continue exercising throughout their life. Because we take children at such a young age, the club has seen huge popularity. Over the last four years, we have helped many young children to lead happier and healthier lives, whilst learning a practical form of self-defence and not to mention having a lot of fun in the process!
What will training sessions involve?
Of course with children so young the main focus is on the simpler aspects of the art of karate. We begin with simple rules of discipline which encourage the children to focus on their tasks. The lessons will be mainly focused around listening and co-ordination games, during which we encourage the children to learn how to work as part of a team.
Along with this, we involve circuit training to develop basic motor skills, improve strength, speed, flexibility, fitness and co-ordination.
NKMA Five Badge System
To progress into the junior karate classes the children need to show correct comprehension of some of the more difficult techniques and collect all five badges. The five badges include Punching, Striking, Kicking, Blocks and Stances. Once all five are collected, the student will be promoted to the junior karate sessions!
